Using an old psychiatric book on 'young delinquents' as an anvil , you pull it up via the string and it drops on the bullseye loony tunes styles. in the center is a brown sack labeled 'potatoes' which contains squeaky kitten meowing sounds. .

So anyway, I've been interested lately about the relationship between humans and pets.
Basically i stumbled across a whole load of you home made you tube videos of owners getting their pets to say 'i love you' or 'mama' or ' i want one' or what-have-you.the majority of them where from America, actually all of them where.some owners seemed loving and some of them where annoying and forceful.Its odd to me how much pets will do for us and also how demanding we are of them.I also think that there is quite a few people who wished that they're pets could talk (i think its a good thing that they cant!) , i know i wanted that soo bad when i was a kid.Its interesting that the main thing that we are getting our pets to say to us is 'I love you'. of course the pet is just mimicking but we like to be fooled and its a good trick.Like i do think animals feel affection for us but id rather let them be animals, thats why i like them in the first place!
So what is compelling us to make them seem more human? It strange what humans will do once they realize they have a certain control over another living thing, especially one they consider weaker or smaller. Certain tribes and culture hold animals in respect and admiration , adorning themselves with representations of the beast that makes them run off in the other direction (eg. bear). Pets are like our suburban link to our ancient times when we had to live side by side with animals in ready made shelters of caves and jungles.

The kaleidescope is going well!, the internal mirror section is done! me and my dad figured out a way of securing the cheapo mirrors from the reject shop together.Anything you put inside its centre becomes beautiful thanks to repetition of pattern. Its kind of amazing to me.

Kaleidescopic Dilemmas

So,...im trying to make a big kaleidescope. My main problem is that i don't know where to find polished aluminum or anything that has a completely clear reflective surface like a mirror but is not made of glass and is easily cut and doesn't break. I bought three long rectangular mirrors ($10 each) from the reject shop and already broke one on the way home.I'm wondering if i could super glue the piece back together and make something that involves the breakage to its advantage.blergh,....
i might have to contact a aluminum manufacturer.

'Slide'

This was part of an installation i did at school that involved wooden balls following various pathways thanks to carboard and eventually landing on an acoustic instrument.There was a tiny piano, a Chinese drum and two containers filled with metallic pins that acted as tambourines.Besides this piece on the floor there was one attatched to the wall. I recorded the sounds it created and tried to make something of them...anyway this is just an experiment and a starting point for me figuring out what else id like to do and can do with the sound within my artwork.
